There are about 200 terpenes (fragrant oils) discovered in the Hemp as a source of flavours and fragrances which synergises with the Cannabinoids

Bast Fiber is isolated from the stalk through retting, a microbial procedure that breaks the chemical bonds that hold the stem together and permits isolation of the bast strands from the woody stalk. The main customary kinds of retting are field and water retting.

The macerated and dried stems are sent for mechanical separation and crushing, passed between grooved rollers to crush and break the wood core into short pieces known as hurds, which is separated from the bast fibers. The hurds and the remaining fibers are separated in a process called scutching. Hemp hurds is further mixed with lime and transformed into hempcrete.
